"A Tale of Two Temperature Trends"
An analysis of temperature measurements of the 48 contiguous U.S. states for the period 1910 to 1997 shows that a rise in atmospheric CO2 levels is correlated with temperature rises predominately for a rise in low temperatures during the coldest days of the year. This suggests that rising co2 levels may have a mostly moderating effect on temperature extremes.
