Solar wind blocks cloud forming cosmic rays causing global warming

Henrik Svensmark is an atmospheric physicist who has studied the effects of cosmic rays on cloud formation. He has made popular the theory that an increase in the sun's solar wind is causing global warming.

Solar wind, charged particles being emitted from the sun, stop some portion of cosmic rays from entering the earth's atmosphere. Cosmic rays that do pass into the atmosphere produce clumping of molecules of air. These clumps serve as condensation nuclei for the formation of water droplets that make up clouds. An increase in solar winds results in less cosmic rays, less cloud formation, less sunlight reflection by clouds, and so an increase in the amount of warming of the earth by the sun.

Theory has its detractors and its supporters. It appears to be a plausible altermative explanation to explain the cause of global warming.
